The last day of the build is always a great day. The afternoon is reserved for the closing ceremonies with the families receiving their homes. This is always a strong reminder of the great things that Habitat for Humanity accomplishes. Words cannot describe seeing a family prepare to receive their home. These moments make every ache and pain disappear quickly, and serve as great motivation to plan the next build. Our team has a tradition of placing a Toonie in the home for good luck on each build A big thank you to the Danielle at Sandy Hill Dental Center for the donation to Habitat for humanity Paraguay

Site 1- Site 2-   The beauty of Thursday on the build is that we all know what to do. We jumped in and got started. A lot of progress was made today.  It wouldn’t be a build without making rebar! 

This was a fantastic evening! We were taken to a restaurant in a home where harp lessons are given. A special Paraguay Barbeque dinner was prepared fir us and we were entertained by harp music, dance and song.  They took the time to answer questions and allow us to try the harp. We have a new appreciation for the harp! 

Site 1- Antonio’s team Tough day in the blistering heat! We have no electricity on this site so everything is by hand including mixing all the mortar and concrete and carrying it in buckets and throwing it by hand to create the foundation. Started our septic system as well. Here is our day! Site 2- Pablo and team  Edit We had a busy day of digging, filling buckets and moving bricks. We were very excited about the cement machine but quickly realized you just have to fill buckets of sand and cement faster! Once again- very hot sun!  We had a nice visit from the family we’re building for today, Hugo, Fatima and Mateo. They are so appreciative!     The little man of the house, Mateo, helping out.  Site 3-Crisobel and team  Our site is fast progressing! We have almost completed the foundation thanks to our cement mixer!

Work day!  Yahoo! But so  unbelievably hot!!! Windchill 37 C☀️  Site 1- Antonio’s site ( Francisco and Melissa’s home). Today’s work was digging foundations, moving rocks, making cement by hand, and throwing  Edit mortar under the hot sun.  All directed by our amazing masons.  Site 2- Pablo’s  site ( Hugo and Fatima’s home)  Task #1 - move a tree- Foundation done! While digging and moving rocks and bricks we enjoyed the wildlife on our site.  New chicks coming.... Tarantula.. Site 3 - Cristobal ( Ivan and Celeste’s home)  Trenches, moving rocks, and digging septic under the hot sun ☀️.  A few artistic photos taken during break time.
